Operating Principle
The Lamella Clarifier works on the physical principle of gravity sedimentation. This equipment consists of a prismatic tank with inclined parallel plates, known as lamellae or honeycombs, which increase the settling surface area.
Treatment Process
The treatment process begins with the water or wastewater entering the clarifier, where the flow slows down due to the inclination and arrangement of the lamellae. This deceleration facilitates separation, directing the heavier solids to the bottom of the tank while the cleaner water rises toward the surface. The solid particles form a sludge layer at the bottom of the clarifier, which is removed periodically to maintain the equipment's efficiency.
