Electrodeionization

Overview

Linsul Electrodeionization (EDI) is a water polishing technology used for the continuous production of high-purity water. The system combines selective membranes, ion exchange resins and electric current to continuously reduce the dissolved ions in the water.

Usually applied after pretreatment stages such as reverse osmosis, EDI technology provides water with low conductivity and stable quality, serving industrial processes that require a high degree of purity.

The Linsul Electrodeionization System is sized according to the feed water quality, the required flow rate and the purity requirements of each process, providing an integrated, compact solution suited to industrial operation.

Features and operation

Technical details

Electrodeionization (EDI) continuously removes dissolved ions from water through the combined action of ion exchange resins, selective membranes and a continuous electric field.

The pretreated water passes through the EDI modules, where the ions present are captured by the resins and carried through the membranes by the electric current. These contaminants are directed to concentrate streams, while the purified water goes on to be used in the process.

This mechanism allows the resins to be continuously regenerated during operation itself, reducing the need for conventional chemical regeneration processes.

Summary

The process provides continuous production, stable water quality and high operational efficiency, and is especially recommended as a polishing stage in systems that require low levels of dissolved salts.

Performance

Discover the advantages of Electrodeionization.

We offer complete solutions for every stage of water treatment, developed to provide reliability, high performance and technical excellence in different applications.

Advantages
  • Continuous production of high-purity water: stable quality for industrial processes with strict requirements.
  • Less need for chemical regeneration: the electric current continuously regenerates the resins within the modules themselves.
  • Stable, automated operation: technology suited to systems with continuous control of water quality parameters.
  • High ion removal efficiency: reduction of residual salts remaining after the previous treatment stages.
  • Simplified maintenance: modular architecture that makes interventions and component maintenance easier.
  • Compact system: high treatment capacity in a smaller installation area.
  • Integration with Reverse Osmosis: a solution especially recommended for polishing water permeated by RO systems.
  • Greater process stability: continuous supply of water with characteristics suited to industrial requirements.
