Gravity Filter
The gravity filter is used in water treatment plants to filter suspended solid particles and reduce water turbidity. Depending on the filter media used, the adsorption process will reduce the organic load in the water, taste, apparent and true color, among other parameters.
Features and operation
Technical details
The gravity filter is designed in accordance with current standards, strictly respecting the filtration and backwash rates, resulting in more efficient water filtration and shorter filter backwash times. The gravity filter is manufactured in a rectangular format, consisting of multiple filters, with the possibility of using two to five filters according to the project's needs.
Available capacity: 10 to 500 m³/h.
Discover the advantages of the Gravity Filter.
We offer complete solutions for every stage of water treatment, developed to provide reliability, high performance and technical excellence in different applications.
Advantages
- Extremely compact filter;
- Easy filter installation and maintenance;
- Water filtration with low operating cost, as there is a model in which backwashing is done by gravity, requiring no electricity;
- The gravity filter has a high filtration capacity for flow rates up to 400 m³/h;
- Among other advantages.
Applications
- The gravity filter is widely used in water treatment plants;
- Well water filtration;
- Water filtration to remove free chlorine;
- Water filtration to reduce turbidity;
- Water filtration to reduce apparent and true color;
- Water filtration to remove metal compounds;
- Other applications upon request.
Feeding
It takes place at the top of the equipment, with water distributed evenly to each filter, each of which has its own water distribution trough over the filter media. At the bottom of the filter there is a reinforced false bottom for installing the nozzles, allowing the support media and filter media to be installed for water filtration. To define the right filter media for the application, current standards and the desired parameters of the treated water are strictly considered, ensuring greater efficiency and operational safety.
The filter media most used in the gravity filter is granular activated carbon, as it is highly efficient at removing taste and color, reducing turbidity and some types of metal compounds, adsorbing organic load and reducing chlorine concentration, offering great potential in water treatment.
Filter backwashing is automated, consisting of a pneumatic unit, electropneumatic valves, a level control system and other devices, programmed and managed by the automation electrical panel. To meet the needs of some projects, we also offer manual filter backwash systems, which require operator assistance. To customize the application of each project, we provide our customers with all the filter backwash models available on the market, such as gravity backwash, pump backwash and air-assisted backwash, among others.
